Penza, 12 January 2015. PenzaNews. The student team of the Penza multidisciplinary college “Phoenix” began its winter social marathon through the villages of the region – Sursk, Kanaevka, Koldais, Staraya Yaksarka and Shemysheika – on Monday, January 12.

The student team plans to return back to Penza on Saturday, January 17.

In each village they visit, the activists will hold interactive drug abuse prevention lectures, tell about the multidisciplinary college, and give away booklets.

The 2015 winter social marathon is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Second World War.

The event is organized by the regional department of the Russian Student Teams, and the Ministry of Education of the Penza region.

The campaign aims to improve physical and spiritual state of the students, help them show their creativity, promote healthy lifestyle, boost their interest in local and country lore through studying their region, give a potential to practice in social activities, and help WWII veterans.
