Maslenitsa reconstruction to take place at “Tarkhany” State Museum-Reserve
Penza, 14 January 2015. PenzaNews. National Maslenitsa celebrations will be reconstructed at the “Tarkhany” State Museum-Reserve of the Penza region on February 22.

The guests of the celebration will enjoy contests, lessons on making evil-warding dolls, and other entertainment.
“The event will also feature traditional Maslenitsa khorovods, dances, folk songs, tug-of-war contests, snowball fights and snow fort assaults, chastushka battles, best snowman competitions, sack ice riding with traditional Russian kissing, sleigh rides, a performance of the folk song group of ‘Tarkhanskiye Posidelki’ museum, and traditional Russian blinchikis with tea, honey mead and the Tarkhany honey,” the administration of the State Museum-Reserve informed PenzaNews agency.
According to them, visitors will witness a stage performance of the Lermontov-time fist fight and get a chance to take part in it. At the same time, they will be able to visit the "Stages of a short path" exhibition at the museum center and enjoy a guide tour across two tiers of the museum, or a walk in the local park.
The event will culminate in a mock siege of a Maslenitsa castle and the burning of a straw effigy.
