“The police office on duty in Nizhnelomovsky area received a report from a truck driver from the Saratov region. He stated that he heard a loud bang, like a shot, while he was driving along the “Ural” federal highway around midnight. For security reasons, he continued driving and proceeded to Nizhny Lomov,” the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told PenzaNews agency.
According to the department, the police found numerous buckshot holes in the truck cabin.
“The investigation group went to the 503d km of the ‘Ural’ federal highway. They inspected the scene, and found and seized several spent cases. The police began investigation, the results of which hinted at the involvement of a 26-year-old Nizhny Lomov area resident, who was later interrogated and confessed to the crime. The officers seized the hunting rifle from which the shots were fired,” the department said.
According to the suspect himself, it was an act of hooliganism, the press service noted.
“The officials have initiated a criminal case on hooliganism involving firearms,” the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.
