Penza governor, “Povolzhupravtodor” head discussed road upkeep issues

Penza, 26 February 2015. PenzaNews. The governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev and the head of the Federal Administration of Car Roads “Bolshaya Volga” (also known as “Povozlupravtodor”) Roman Zalesinsky discussed road upkeep issues and construction of new highways during a business meeting on Wednesday, February 25.
According to named figures, a total of 203 km of federal roads were build and repaired in the region in 2014.
The 2015 plans include similar repairs for 91.5 km of R208 “Tambov–Penza” and M5 “Ural” highways.
The roadmap also includes repairs for a R158 “Nizhny Novgorod–Arzamas–Saransk–Issa–Penza–Saratov” highway section in the Penza region.
During the meeting, Vasily Bochkarev told about the project of a “Penza City Eastern Bypass” highway that would allow to divert transport coming from south and south-east away from the city center.
According to the press service of the regional government, the new road will reduce the traffic road of city suburb sections of M5 “Ural” and “Tambov–Penza” highways and open additional paths to the neighboring regions.
