Accroding to the company, the largest MTS home Internet access speed varied the most among the towns of the Volga Federal District in Kirovo-Chepetsk of the Kirov region, the town of Volzhsk by Mariy El, and Ulyanovsk.
“The connection speed grew the fastest in Arzamas, Volzhsk, and the towns of Kuznetsk and Zarechny in the Penza region where MTS has completely retooled its wired network and laid down its own trunk connection cables,” the press service noted.
According to the company, Kuznetsk, Zarechny, Arzamas, Volzhsk and Sarov were among the top 5 VFD towns with the largest average connection speed growth for new home Internet users in 2014 compared to 2013.
“The growth was driven by high demand on ‘traffic-heavy’ content: streaming video, torrents and audio recordings, as well as Double Play and Triple Play packages that now constitute over 60% of plans for new MTS users. The fastest connection speed, avg. 68.1 Mbps for new users, was registered in the town of Kirovo-Chepetsk. Volzhsk, with the average landline Internet access speed at 67.6 Mbps, was the second, and Kuznetsk was the third with its average broadband access speed for new users at 63.8 Mbps.
