The event took place in the City Duma session hall.
The pupils learned about the inner workings of the Russian State Duma, the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, and the city Duma and administration.
During the dialogue with the teenagers, Victor Kuvaytsev said the socially active youth can be a big help to the municipal authorities by providing interesting ideas and projects with potential.
“We would like to see you as the people who can come here and work with us,” he said.
Those who want to do so can try themselves as members of the youth council under the City Duma, the head of the city explained.
“These are our colleagues. We have a lot to learn from them,” he said.
During the lesson, Victor Kuvaytsev presented the chairman of the civil youth council Alexander Antonov a book titled “Penza city Duma. History and Present Times” published to the 350th anniversary of the city, and expressed his belief that some of the school students present in the session will surely join the council in the future.
In his turn, Roman Petrukhin told the teenagers in details about the workings of the City Duma, its structure and responsibilities of the deputies.
The brief lecture was followed by a Q&A session and an opportunity to speak of the imminent problems that require immediate resolution.
In particular, the student of the Penza gymnasium No. 1 Artem Yelistratove stressed the attention on the lack of parking lots by apartment buildings.
At the same time, Kamila Zharkova, student of the school No. 18, asked for advice on managing youth employment during the summer.
Following the lesson on parliamentarism, all the students who attended the event were added to the roster of the civil youth council under the Penza city Duma.
The Penza city Duma has been holding regular lessons on parliamentarism before. The first such event in 2015 took place on January 28, and involved the students of the lyceum No. 55.
