The changes followed the revision of maximum fare levels for passenger and baggage transportation, which reached 20.79 rubles for trolley buses, 22.02 for marshrutkas (shuttle buses), and 20.02 for regular buses.
The transportation companies chose to use their rights to set fares within the limits.
A trolley bus ride will now cost 20 rubles instead of 14.
Those Penza citizens who travel by marshrutkas will now pay 22 rubles instead of 16.
All bus tickets now cost 20 rubles, while in the past, most routes demanded 17 rubles and some only 14.
As PenzaNews agency reported earlier, the city committee of the Communist Party organized a protest rally scheduled for 18.00 of June 1 that will take place at the Dzerzhinsky public garden of Penza.
The protesters plan to stand against the growing prices of food and medicine, increased city transport and commuter train fares, as well as decisions to shut down some of the city trains and dacha buses.
