“Tarkhany” Penza museum director Tamara Melnikova awarded state prize

Penza, 10 June 2015. PenzaNews. Tamara Melnikova, director of “Tarkhany” Lermontov State Museum-Reserve, received the state prize of Russia for achievements in literature and arts in 2014.

The names of the state prize recipients for achievements in science and technology, literature and arts, as well as humanitarian activities, were announced by the aide to the Russian president Andrey Fursenko, and the presidium member of the Presidential Council on Culture and Arts, the presidential advisor Vladimir Tolstykh, during a special briefing session held in Kremlin on Wednesday, June 10.
Tamara Melnikova received the award for conducting a complex of restoration measures in “Tarkhany” State Museum-Reserve, recovering the cultural traditions of an old estate, and increasing the popularity of Mikhail Lermontov’s legacy.
The list of award recipients also includes Evgeny Kablov, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), general director of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials; Gennady Krasnikov, member of RAS, general director of “Research Institute for Molecular Electronics and manufacturing facility ‘Mikron’”; Valery Tishkov, member of RAS, director of the N.N. Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Anthropology and Ethnography; Alexander Sokurov, a film director; Chulpan Khamatova, an actress famous for her theater and screen performances; and Alexandra Pakhmutova, a music composer.
They will receive their awards in Moscow on Russia Day, June 12.
