Penza region police to seek scooter riders violating traffic laws

Penza, 10 June 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region will hold a preventive campaign “Scooter” on Thursday, June 11, in an attempt to prevent possible traffic accidents caused by the aforementioned vehicles.

“It mainly aims to increase the monitoring of traffic law violations by the motorcycle drivers,” the press service of the Penza region traffic police informed PenzaNews agency.
To be eligible for driving a scooter, a person must have an M-class driver’s license or get a driver’s license of any other class.
“The amendments to the Russian Code of Administrative Violations made scooter drivers eligible for punishment under all articles of Chapter 12. In other words, a scooter driver can now be punished for a traffic law violation like any other driver, such as for riding on the oncoming traffic lane – a fine of 5,000 rubles or a driving ban for 4 to 6 months. A person driving a scooter without a license will be fined 5-15 thousand rubles, a DUI will result in a driving ban for 18 to 24 months and a fine of 30,000 rubles,” the press service clarified.
