Penza, 21 September 2015. PenzaNews. The Distinguished Artist of Russia Sergei Kazakov is celebrating 5 years in the office of the artistic director of the Penza regional Lunacharsky Drama Theater, where he had been appointed on September 20, 2010.

Shortly before his appointment in 2010, Sergei Kazakov had outlined his position in a meeting with his colleagues.

“Had I a magic wand, I’d just wave it and say: ‘Guys, now we’ll live a good life!’ But I don’t have one. Our magic wand is ourselves, and only us, our wills and our skills will define the life of our theater,” he had said several days before his appointment.

The past 5 years saw great changes in the life of the theater, with artistic victories, grandiose premieres, international tours, participation and organization of festivals, new actors, stage directors, and plays, says the website of the Drama Theater.

Sergei Kazakov himself offered to name the new, 223rd theatrical season “The Reboot.”

This season “will be fully dedicated to the audience – people who love theater or possibly came here for the first time. We must do everything to make them fall in love with the theater,” said the artistic director.
