Penza, 26 October 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza region governor Ivan Belozertsev instructed the relevant officials to begin cleaning trash and fallen leaves from the city’s storm drains to prepare for the approaching winter period.
“We require a fully functioning storm drain system in Penza,” said the governor during the Penza region government meeting session on Monday, October 26.
He also pointed out that manholes on many roads tend to raise above the road level, and ordered his subordinates to rectify that.
In addition, the governor warned the officials to monitor the use of municipal machinery that frequently resulted in broken or dismantled curbstones during snow cleanings in winter.
“When you ride through the city […] you can see something: they placed new curbstones a year ago, then comes winter, and fast-going snow-cleaning vehicles trying to make the runway wider pull the curbstones out or cut them off outright,” Ivan Belozertsev noted.
