Elderly Penza woman, 78, gives away 200,000 rubles to scammer

Penza, 12 November 2015. PenzaNews. An elderly woman in Penza, 78, ended up a victim of a scammer who convinced her that her son hit a man in a road accident and urgently needs money to escape criminal prosecution.

“The culprit contacted the elderly woman’s mobile phone in the afternoon of Wednesday, November 11. Following his instructions, the woman gave 200,000 rubles to an unknown person who visited her flat an hour later,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews agency.
The police have initiated a criminal case on the issue, they added.
“The law enforcement forces are taking measures to identify the culprits. His marks are as follows: looks 20-25 years old, 175 cm tall, strongly-built, light brown hair, wore a grey waist-length coat with darker sleeve upturns,” they clarified.
