The fire in the Penza high-tech medical research and development enterprise “MedInzh”that focuses on developing such medical devices as artificial heart valves reportedly dealt several dozen million rubles of gamages to the company, announced the assistant production manager of “MedInzh” Vasily Tolin told PenzaNews.

“The fire itself always leads to great trouble and grievance, and the washing-down after the fire is even worse. There is smoldering, they [the fire crews] are washing it down, and water gets on the finished production, on production components,” he said.

According to him, the biggest losses for the company is the loss of production clean rooms that likely were completely spoiled.

“This is a room where we are making the lining for the [heart] valves, constructing everything, checking the functioning. This is a clean zone where everything must be operation room-level clean,” Vasily Tolin explained.

Moreover, he added, many of the production facilities and rooms are now in a condition that “you can’t even see without tears coming to your eyes.”

“We have our own power supply station, it’s been disabled as there’s water everywhere,” Vasily Tolin added.

He confirmed the news that some of the production facilities will be moved to the technopark “Rameev” located nearby.

“We will be trying to move those very clean rooms in just a day or two,” said the assistant production manager.

In addition, Vasily Tolin added that the full move of production facilities to “Rameev” will take a minimum of 3-4 days.

As PenzaNews reported earlier, late at night into Wednesday, April 6, the emergency services received a report about a fire in the 20,000 sq. meter building that houses the company “MedInzh,” which is located in Penza on Tsentralnaya street, 1 and also houses the traffic police Interdistrict Registration-Examinational Office.

The fire took 98 firemen and 28 vehicles to extinguish.

The flames were detected by the building security guards after the automatic fire alarm was set off. Thanks to quick action by the EMERCOM services, the fire was not allowed to spread – it was extinguished at practically the same space as where it had been originally located.

The fire damaged 450 sq. meters of roofing, which crashed as a result, and partially the internal offices.

he firemen managed to stave the fire away from the Interdistrict Registration-Examinational Office, even though the flames were spreading its way. Regardless, the office temporarily shut down, and the staff moved the equipment from the building while the fire was being extinguished.

In the morning, the “MedInzh” facilities were visited by the deputy chairman of the regional government Valery Bespalov and the head of the regional Industry Ministry Mikhail Torgashin.

Valery Bespalov announced that some facilities of “MedInzh” which focus on production of high-tech medical devices and were damaged in the fire will be moved to the technopark “Rameev.”
