Penza, 23 May 2016. PenzaNews. A pelican in the Penza zoo has attacked and eaten a pigeon that attempted to steal his food.

The carnivorous bird has gulped the trespasser alive, REN TV channel quotes the witnesses.

According to one of the hypotheses, the pelican might have attacked the pigeon due to malnutrition.

Pelicans typically live in shallow lakes and large rivermouths. Their ration consists of mostly fish – over a kilogram per day. However, there are known cases when pelicans received nutrition through eating other birds.
