Around 770 people bit by ticks in Penza region

Penza, 21 June 2016. PenzaNews. Nearly 770 people, including 207 children under 14, sought medical help after getting bit by ticks in the Penza region since the beginning of the tick activity season. The first tick-related reports were registered on April 11.

435 insects were lab-tested, with nearly 13% of them infected with Lyme disease.

According to information available on June 9, the regional doctors diagnosed 12 people with Lyme disease, including 6 Penza citizens.

Overall, the regional authorities treated 114 hectares of forests and plains against ticks – 82.5% of the plan for the current tick season, says the press service of the Penza region Rospotrebnadzor department.
