The project of the future river embankment zone being developed by the L.M. Khodos Architectural Workshop under a contract with the city. The architect himself, together with his colleagues Alexander Breus and Marat Kaskaev, presented the project to the Penza city mayor Victor Kuvaytsev.
In particular, the trees in the river embankment zone will be kept in place, as well as the Rostok monument, which will undergo a restoration process.
The monument will be adjacent to the pit stall zone, which in turn will be opposite to three fountains and an open stage in the river itself.
The walkway zone in the river embankment will be expanded to 7.5 meters, with 2.5-meter lawn dotted with seats and lightening posts, and adjacent to a 2.5-meter wide bicycle road.
Victor Kuvaytsev asked them about the possible issues that may arise with the residents of adjacent buildings due to the river embankment expansion.
In turn, Lev Khodos explained that only two sections cause notable concern.
Also, the arcitect noted that the embankment area will have two standalone WC zones.
“One will be closer to the pedestrian bridge, while the other will be close to the Bakuninsky bridge. As for the parking zones, there will be a parking pocket along the Uritskovo street. Another point is another parking zone planned next to the Uritskovo street parking lot. This is not much, but this is all we can afford here right now,” he said, adding that the WC zones will also be equipped with other machinery, such as pumps and CCTV complexes.
Moreover, the embankment area will be decorated by art objects, the architect added.
“The documents will be passed down for examination on August 28. […] After we get a go from the examination, we can proceed with getting a construction permit and begin the actual work,” Lev Khodos noted.
