Penza, 29 July 2016. PenzaNews. The Penza city hall has discussed the proposal to build a new relief road along the Sura river to relieve traffic in the Ternovka residential area during the meeting session on Friday, July 29.

The idea itself was provided by the citizens of the Sputnik city residential area and adjacent Ternovka, who say that they have to waste a lot of time in a big traffic jam going from the local river embankment area and through Raduzhnaya street.

“The people who live in Sputnik City are our people. They work in Penza, they drive their children to kindergartens and schools, and we have to make sure they are comfortable,” the Penza mayor Victor Kuvaytsev said during the meeting session.

The discussion was followed by several proposals to relieve the traffic: along with constructing a relief road, the discussion focused on blocking the driveway along the nearby “Pyaterochka” general store and increasing the greenlight duration at the traffic light that affects the road throughput.

According to Victor Kuvaytsev, the city officials need to visit the location in person, analyze the possible solutions, and calculate their costs.

The final decision must be made early next week, the press service of the city hall quotes him.
