Gorodische, 3 August 2016. PenzaNews. The woman who left the Penza region and abandoned her girl to the grandmother was deprived of parental rights by the Gorodische area court.

“The Gorodische area court received a complaint from an elderly woman, the girl’s grandmother, who explained that the mother is not involved in the girl’s education and upbringing in any way and is not interested of her life and well-being,” Svetlana Artamonova, senior assistant of the head of the regional prosecutor for media relations, told PenzaNews.

According to her, it was established that the woman left the region over three years ago, and the investigators attempted to enforce her to provide parental care to the daughter several times since then.

“In an attempt to evade the law and her parental obligations, the woman changed place of residence several times. The children’s rights institutions requested to deprive the woman of parental rights through court,” she added.

The court’s decision will allow the grandmother who is caring of the underage child to seek monetary assistance and alimony payments to provide better care to the child, she explained.
