167 people died of alcohol poisoning in Penza region in six months

Penza, 9 August 2016. PenzaNews. 167 lethal cases of poisoning with alcohol-containing products are registered in the Penza region in the first half-year 2016, states the report published on Rospotrebnadzor website on Tuesday, August 9.

Compared with the same period last year, the number of lethal cases rose by 8%.
In only six months in the Penza region, there were 353 cases of poisoning with alcohol-containing products: 331 — ethanol and 19 — methanol.
Among victims of low-quality alcohol are 303 men and 50 women.
The number of unemployed is the largest among the poisoned — 66%. Then there are pensioners — 22%, and the third place — the working citizens — 7%. Also among the victims there are 11 school students and 4 students of vocational and higher education institutions, nobody died. Besides, two cases of an alcohol poisoning were registered among the homeless, both survived.
The vast majority of victims, 29.7% are aged 26-39. Another 24% are citizens at the age of 50–59 years, 21% — 40–49 years, 19% — 60–69 years. The rest age groups make 6.3%.
Alcoholic poisoning cases are unevenly distributed in the areas and cities of the Penza region.
Above regional are the figures in Spassky, Kameshkirsky, Vadinsky, Serdobsky, Neverkinsky, Issinsky, Bekovsky, Lopatinsky, Shemysheysky and Zemetchinsky areas, and also in Kuznetsk and Penza.
