First championship in carp fishing held in Penza region

Penza, 29 May 2012. PenzaNews. The three-day open championship in carp fishing was held in the Penza region, in Serdobsky area, for the first time.

As sport fishing federation president Vadim Kovalev said in an interview with news agency “PenzaNews,” 20 representatives of the Penza region, Saratov and Saransk had been fighting for 72 hours for the title of best carp-fishers.
“In the first few hours after the lure we had the first catches. And the fish were of trophy size — from 3 to 6 kg and more,” said the agency interlocutor.
According to his words, the initial leadership was taken by Penza “Region-58” and “Saratov Region Society of Hunters and Fishers “SaratovKarpklub.”
“However, the following two days of the competition added some intrigue — the team, “SV,” which included sportsmen from Kamenka and Penza, was able to not only catch up with the leaders, but also beat them and breakaway, becoming a champion in the end,” said Vadim Kovalev.
He added that the total amount of the winners’ catch was 5 carps weighing 24 kg 950 grams. Moreover, the largest fish of the competition weighing 6 kg 250 grams also belongs to “SV.”
“Silver” of the championship went to the Penza team “Region-58,” the sportsmen of which caught three carps weighing 14 kg. The team “Region-13” from Mordovia stood up for the third place with a score of 2 fish weighing 10 kg 125 grams,” said the president of the federation of sport fishing of the Penza region.
He especially stressed that in accordance with the rules of carp sport fishing, all fish were set free after the weighing.
